This Privacy Policy explains how Oliver BAM (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal data when you visit this website, contact us, or work with us. We mainly support B2B clients in the UK, Europe, and the US.

For business-owner details and formal identification, please see our Legal Notice. We keep certain statutory details there (and limit what’s shown publicly to help reduce spam/scraping).

1) Who we are

Data Controller: Oliver BAM (operated by Oliver Brown, self-employed in Spain).
Contact: hello@businessawaremarketing.com

Terms: Your use of this site is also governed by our Terms of Use.

2) What we collect

a) Information you give us

When you contact us via our website form (Contact Form 7) or email, we may collect:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Phone number (optional)

  • Message content and any details you choose to share

b) Page/source info (where the form came from)

If enabled in our email template, Contact Form 7 can include the page URL (and sometimes page title/post ID) where the form was submitted using special mail tags (e.g., [_url], [_post_title], [_post_url], [_post_id]).

c) Website analytics (Independent Analytics)

We use the Independent Analytics WordPress plugin to understand site traffic and improve the website. It’s designed to run on the site and not use cookies to track visitors.
Independent Analytics describes a privacy approach that hashes a visitor’s IP address with user agent + a salt to create an ID for returning visits (without storing the original values).

d) Spam prevention (Google reCAPTCHA)

We use Google reCAPTCHA to protect forms from spam and abuse. When it runs, it sets a cookie called _GRECAPTCHA for risk analysis (and processes signals to help detect bots).

3) How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • Respond to enquiries and communicate with you

  • Provide services and manage client relationships

  • Keep the website secure and working properly

  • Reduce spam and abuse (reCAPTCHA)

  • Improve the site (analytics)

4) Legal bases (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)

Where UK/EU data protection law applies, we rely on:

  • Contract (to provide services or take steps before a contract)

  • Legitimate interests (to respond to enquiries, run our business, secure the site, and understand website performance)

  • Consent (where required, e.g., for any optional features that need it)

  • Legal obligation (accounting/tax/compliance where applicable)

5) Cookies

We keep tracking light.

  • Independent Analytics is designed to work without cookies for visitor tracking.

  • reCAPTCHA sets a necessary cookie (_GRECAPTCHA) when executed for risk analysis.

  • WordPress (and the site stack) may set essential cookies needed for basic functionality and security.

You can control cookies via your browser settings.

6) Who we share data with

We share personal data only when needed to run the site and deliver work, including with:

  • Google (reCAPTCHA; Google Workspace/Gmail for business email and operations)

  • Website hosting / IT providers (hosting, security, maintenance)

  • Professional advisers (e.g., accounting) where required

We don’t sell your personal data.

7) International transfers

Some service providers (notably Google) may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers (for example, standard contractual clauses).

8) Data retention

We keep data only as long as necessary:

  • Enquiries: to respond and follow up, plus a reasonable period after

  • Client work: during the relationship and afterwards for records, legal, and accounting needs

  • Analytics: stored in our WordPress database and used in aggregated form; Independent Analytics is designed not to store personal data in a directly identifiable way.

9) Your rights

Depending on where you are (UK/EU/US), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal data, and to object in some cases.

To make a request, email hello@businessawaremarketing.com.

10) Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No website can guarantee perfect security, but we take it seriously and act quickly if something goes wrong.

11) Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top.
